Leon is the Founder and Principal of Ocean Avenue Partners, a financial services firm that partners with funds and early-stage companies on strategic business development initiatives in Web 3 and Fintech industries. Prior to starting Ocean Avenue Partners, Leon had an extensive career as an investor, advisor, and entrepreneur building businesses in Asia and the US for Tagus Capital, Diginex, CITIC CLSA-EIP, BlackRock, and Aristotle.

 

In addition to his role at Ocean Avenue Partners, Leon is also the founder and managing partner at Tagus Capital, a UK and US-based crypto venture capital firm, where he sits on both the investment committee and executive committee. Leon leads the fund's venture capital investments into leading Seed to Series B Web3 companies across both primary and secondary private markets. 

 

Prior to Tagus, Leon was based in Hong Kong and led the capital raise for the first-ever NASDAQ listing of a cryptocurrency exchange called EQONEX (NASDAQ: EQOS) and facilitated the development of the firm’s investment banking and asset management businesses. Before EQONEX, Leon led the development of 11 ETFs listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX) and an arbitrage multi-strategy hedge fund for EIP, a CITIC CLSA asset management company. At EIP, Leon cultivated relationships on CLSA-sponsored roadshows in China, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Korea, UK, Switzerland, US, and Canada. Leon trained CLSA staff on ETF product and trading mechanics and presented at CLSA forums in Hong Kong and Thailand.  While in Hong Kong, Leon held Type 4 & 9 licenses from the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC).  

 

Prior to Hong Kong, Leon started his ETF journey in New York, which included a capital markets role for BlackRock iShares. Leon began his career at Aristotle Capital in Los Angeles, a $60Bn bottom-up investment management firm. 

 

Leon read economics at Lund University in Sweden and has a BA degree in Psychology and Economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Leon is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a member of the CFA Society of Hong Kong and Los Angeles.
